Young Choreographers Project
In May 2006, Caochangdi Arts Workstation and Living Dance Studio organized the Young Choreographers Project.? Out of all the applicants, eight creative projects were chosen to take part in the Young Choreographers Project. The creators consisted of professional dancers and directors as well as people with no professional training who merely love the arts. For some of them it was their first time to direct their own work. Their backgrounds vary from film directors to architects and editors, amongst others. The eight projects received small grants to support the creation of their productions and rehearsed either at the Workstation or other venues. The productions were performed at Caochangdi Workstation in May 2006 and showed a great diversity of content and style.? A jury awarded three of the eight participants with a prize to develop their works. These three performances will now be presented both in the Crossing Festival and in the Fringe Festival (Shanghai).

The Young Choreographers Project was supported by the DOEN Foundation (the Netherlands) and Beijing Storm. The jury consisted of Wen Hui, Wu Wenguang, Tian Gebing, Zhang Xian, Arco Renz. Arco Renz also worked as a coach with the three winning projects.
